It’s back to school time and that means back to school shopping. To the tune of $510 per household, according to a 2018 survey. As parents brace for the budget hit, Green Dot is offering a promotion that might offer a little help for prepaid card users.
With its Back to School Bonus sweepstakes, Green Dot will award 300 $50 prizes and 5 $1,000 Grand Prizes through September.
Entry is simple. You just need to receive direct deposits to your Green Dot or RushCard Prepaid Visa or other qualifying Green Dot prepaid card during the contest period. Each direct deposit over $100 qualifies for one entry in the sweepstakes. And each cardholder is eligible to enter up to 10 times each month from July through September.
One hundred $50 prizes will be awarded each month and five $1,000 prizes will be awarded at the end of the contest period in October. All entries that don’t win for the $50 prize will automatically be entered in the grand prize drawing.
If you already have a Green Dot Prepaid Visa® or and set up your paycheck or benefit check to be directly deposited to your card, you’re all set.
If you have one of the cards and haven’t set up direct deposit, you should. Prepaid cards offer a number of benefits to using direct deposit, like faster access to your money. And with the Green Dot Prepaid Visa, direct deposit can even help get your monthly fee waived.
